The very large house and gardens are open to the public.

MIKE WOLOSZYK
AS
FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT
MIKE WOLOSZYK
AS
FRANKLIN DELANO ROOSEVELT
Mike entertained and educated us once again. This time he was Franklin Delano Roosevelt. President Roosevelt told us of his early life. He was born in 1882 in Hyde Park, NY. He was an only child and was born with a "silver spoon in his mouth". In spite of his privileged life, he was expected to be of public service. His upbringing provided him with comfort, confidence and leadership skills.
As a young man he began to admire his fifth cousin, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt. They married in 1905. The couple had a daughter and four sons.
He talked about his polio which he contracted in 1921 when he was 39. By 1922 he was able to stand with braces. After a long, rehabilitation period and with the support of his wife, he
returned to public life. Eleanor spoke publicly throughout New York State, keeping her husband's reputation strong despite his illness. Eleanor was his partner in more ways than one.
Highlights of his Political Career and as President:
He became the Governor of New York in 1928; then in 1929 the Stock Market crashed and the nation slid into economic depression. He became President in 1933 at the height of the depression. He was the only President to reside for more than two terms.
Mike went on to tell us so much about FDR...

Also at the April Luncheon, the members brought items which were on a list provided by Sandy Debicki to supply the women and children of Grace Centers of Hope with many needed items. Luke Burt of Grace Centers of Hope brought his truck to take the items to the women and children center.
After lunch, Sandy Debicki, Martha Hach, Ann Duncan, Betty Ann Callanan, Cathy Mintz, Karen Kopicko, Yasmin Patel, and even the manager from the Iroquois Club help us to fill Luke's truck to full capacity.
